Firstly initial consultations are always free, and you will never receive an unexpected bill from us, any chargeable fees are agreed in advance with the client.
Secondly contrary to what some advisers (particularly bank based ones) may say, there is no such thing as free advice. For instance commissions are paid by taking money from your investment or your pension plan, although commissions are often cunningly disguised!
Our aim is to ensure you the client get advice & products free of any bias because of how we get paid, and also receive fair value for the work we are doing for you.
INVESTMENTS / PENSIONS
Most clients want us to work with them over the long term with regard to their pensions & investments, and we normally work on the basis of being paid a % of the initial investment, generally between one & two percent of the investment depending on how much is being invested, and we will then be paid a half % of the value of the investment / pension fund each year in exchange for providing ongoing advice. Normally these amounts are paid to us direct by the investment / pension company as this is more efficient for all concerned.
Sometimes you might want just some one off work, which can be on a agreed fixed fee basis, or on a by the hour basis where we charge £75 an hour.
INSURANCES
Most insurance products pay some kind of commission, and it normally seems to suit most people that we are paid that way. However on some products such as life insurance it can be possible to pay us a fee so we give up our commission and you would benefit from slightly cheaper premiums.
Given the wide range of work we do for clients, it is not possible to cover all situations here, please do not hesitate to contact us if you require more information on how we get paid.
FINANCIAL PLANNING
Fees for this type of work would depend on what you were looking for, we would normally quote on an individual basis after discussing your needs in detail.
